The small island of Isla Canela lies at the mouth of the Guadiana river which separates Spain from Portugal. Linked by a small bridge to the mainland, it is a modern, purpose built resort designed to offer all the facilities you would need for a great beach holiday. The resort has its own 18 hole golf course formed by dunes and decorated with orange and olive trees.

Beaches

The golden sands on Isla Canela stretch for seven kilometres around the resort, so if you're looking for peace and tranquility, you should have no problem finding your own secluded spot.

Shopping

Isla Canela is joined to the mainland by a bridge to the town of Ayamonte, where you can find everything you need for your stay. A daily covered fruit, vegetable and fish market, supermarkets and individual shops are all to be found in the many small pedestrian streets.

Nightlife

Nightlife in Isla Canela is limited to hotels but bars and a cinema can be found in nearby Ayamonte.

Restaurants

The nearby fishing village of Ayamonte makes a pleasant place to enjoy an evening meal, followed by a stroll along the palm fringed harbour.
