Estartit Costa Brava, Catalunya, Spain

Introduction

Set against a backdrop of rugged mountains, above a large sweeping bay of pale golden sand, Estartit has grown from a small fishing village to a lively, bustling resort with an attractive marina and many shops, bars and restaurants. British holidaymakers of all kinds love it here. For sports enthusiasts, there's windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkelling. For the less energetic, why not take a trip out on a glass bottomed boat, enjoy a round of golf, go for a stroll through the characterful, narrow streets or savour a leisurely meal at one of the restaurants in the marina. The large fun fair, meanwhile, is a must for the kids. Whatever your mood, you will not be lost for something to do here. Estartit's bars and pubs are very lively in high summer. For something a little more relaxed, there are numerous bars and restaurants on the harbour serving authentic Spanish wine in a romantic setting.

Beaches and Sightseeing

The wonderful sweep of soft, fine sand, which shelves gently into the sea, is one of the best beaches to be found on the Costa Brava. The beach plays host to an excellent variety of watersports in high season summertime.

Local Cuisine & Evenings Out

Estartit's elegant yacht marina makes an excellent setting for an evening meal. Locally caught seafood is the specialty, and with traditional Spanish tapas bars and an excellent variety of international cuisine, there's a taste to tempt every palate. An after dinner stroll through the attractive streets of Estartit may lead you to a local bodegas, where you can sample world renowned Spanish wine.

Local interest

Great for the family, with the fun fair on the main road, you could also take a glass bottom boat trip. Boats cruise along the coast to explore the breathtakingly pretty, secluded coves or take you to Les Medes Islands, where you will see an abundance of marine life.

Shopping and Markets

There are a handful of clothes shops and souvenir outlets to suit basic shopping needs. Those looking for a taste of local culture should definitely visit the food market every Thursday.
