Balearic Islands Description

The Balearic Islands, Ibiza, Mallorca called Majorca by the Brits, Menorca are one of Spains top Holiday Destinations in the summer months. Although much warmer than the UK they are not regarded as a winter destination if you want to sunbathe and many bars, restaurants and night clubs close. The best time to visit is mid to late Spring through to early or mid autumn, with the high season being July and August

Formentera is another island in the Balearic's and is far smaller than the others and not popular,  mainly due to the fact that the majority of UK tour operators do not include Formentera as a destination

 

Location of Balearic Islands

The Islands are located in the Mediterranean 100 to 300 kilometres off the East coast of Spain between Barcelona and Benidorm.

 

Ibiza

Ibiza is the clubbing capital of Spain with the nightlife and clubbing resorts of  San Antonio, Ibiza Town & Playa d'en Bossa

 

The other resorts on the island are ideal for family holidays & are in general much quieter & more relaxed than the nightlife resorts.

 

 

Mallorca (Majorca)

Mallorca is better known as Majorca by the Brits is the largest of the Balearic islands , for partying head for Magaluf, for culture the Capital Palma de Mallorca with it's magnificent old town teaming with historic attractions, or for a great holiday try one of the other fabulous resorts on the island of Mallorca.

For a great day out take the ancient red train from Palma to Soller, the tram to Port Soller, finish off with a sea trip to Sa Calobra with it's magnificent beach and fabulous narrow gorge. All in tickets are available from the red train Station

Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic islands and has more beaches that the other islands making it very popular for family and couple holidays

There are 3 airports Balearic Islands Airports are Ibiza Airport, Mallorca Airport and Menorca Airport but no airport on Formentera which is connected to Ibiza and Denia on Mainland Spain by ferry
